How to make your own Track Lighting setup for the shows:
By Lance A. Kanaby December 18, 1997
We do not supply this upright setup to support your track lighting but we will be happy to share with you how we have done ours. All parts can be purchased from Home Depot or a similar mega type home hardware store. Pricing at Home Depot stores may vary at different locations.
Parts needed for a standard 8' table booth display:
First you need three 10' lengths of 1" PVC pipe, Three 1" metal pipe flanges, 1" PVC pipe T, two 1" PVC pipe 90 degree elbows, five 1" PVC pipe to male threaded ends, two 1" PVC pipe to female threads, one small can of PVC cement and a hacksaw.
Cut the 1" PVC pipe into five lengths of 3 at 39" and two at 36" and you will also need two lengths at 6". You can use a hacksaw or a pipe cutter to cut the PVC pipe, but you will need a file to smooth the edges.
Take the three 39" pieces of PVC pipe and glue three of the PVC to male threaded ends on. Now you can screw the 1" pipe flange onto these and you now have the three upright supports.
Now we need to make the top cross bar. First take the two 6" lengths of PVC pipe and glue the 1" PVC to female threaded ends to them. Next take these pieces and glue them into the 1" PVC pipe T at opposite ends. This is now the center piece to join the top cross bar together. Next take the two pieces of 1" PVC that were cut to 36" and glue the elbow on one end and the 1" PVC pipe to male threaded end to each end.
Your economy track support system is now ready to assemble. Find the center edge of the 8' table and position one of the lengths of PVC pipe that has a pipe flange on it on the table edge and clamp this down with a 3" C clamp. Insert the PVC pipe T on top of this upright, screw in the two cross bar pieces with the elbows pointing down at each end. Now you can mount the other two upright poles.
This is about as cheap as it gets, I did mine for around $18.00 with parts from Home Depot. The one main problem with this setup is the lights are at the back of your show cases.
